Chest CT (Computed Tomography) Without Contrast

How long will it take? 30 minutes

What will happen?

CT scans use X rays to get a picture of your lungs and respiratory tract. A CT scan shows details of the bones, muscles, fat, and organs, and the imaging is more detailed than standard X-rays.

The CT scanner looks like a large donut. You lay on a table that slides you through the middle. The scanner will create images of your body. The scan takes 10 to 20 minutes.

If this test triggers while you are at your visit, you will be assisted in scheduling a follow-up appointment.

How do I prepare?

You will be asked to remove jewelry and remove extra layers of clothing such as outerwear (hats, coats).

Will I be told my results?

The person conducting the scan will not be able to share your results with you.

Results will be reported in MyChart. A copy of results with be shared with your Provider upon request.

If your results are abnormal, the RECOVER clinical team will call you within 10 days to provide any necessary recommendations for follow up.
